From the moment we arrived you could feel the peace and instantly relaxed. The house and grounds have such a calmness around them that we all felt so refreshed after our stay. Sue and Simon have worked their magic with Maison du Morilhou and we would highly recommend staying here to anyone. It’s comfortable, with different seating areas outside, a fabulous outdoor kitchen and dining area with heated pool and sunbeds. Lots of walking and biking routes available for the active visitors with so many chateaus, gardens and other attractions to visit locally. A great choice for eating out too. With great recommendations from our hosts. We definitely hope to visit again and highly recommend though would ideally like to keep this to ourselves so there’s no fear of it being fully booked…..

Maison du Morilhou is an absolutely wonderful place to stay! We didn’t want to leave - and then when we arrived at our next holiday home in Italy , we wanted to head straight back! We had the best time. The house itself is beautifully decorated and felt truly relaxing to stay in. The eye for detail is spot on. We stayed in the panelled bedroom which felt really luxurious. The bed was unbelievably comfortable and we had the best nights sleep during our time there. We went with our six children who all echoed the same. They all loved their rooms too. There are numerous outdoor areas to sit with comfy seating You’re surrounded by nature and can’t see any neighbours, so it truly feels like your own private oasis. The BBQ / outdoor eating area is a perfect space for long relaxed lunches and dinners. The pool was spectacular. There’s beautiful views across the trees during the day, and at night time the star gazing was jaw dropping. We’ve never seen such a clear sky or so many stars. We all lay on the sun loungers staring at them, chatting and laughing. Will be cherished memories for us all. The pool itself is huge and a perfect temperature. Being heated everyone jumped straight in without the usual shrieks! It’s blissful! The upstairs mezzanine / hall is really big and has a pool table and more sofas. The kids loved hanging out there too, which also gave us some welcome peace and quiet around the pool at times 😁 The coffee machine, TV and American fridge freezer also made it feel a relaxing and luxurious break. The area has so much to do. We absolutely loved the night market in the local village. We also canoed down the Vézère river from Montignac which was so fun. We took a picnic with us and ate on a river beach. Last but not least, Sue and Simon are fantastic hosts and went above and beyond to make our holiday wonderful. It’s the perfect house to stay at. We will be back! ❤️

Another fabulous review we are so lucky. Thank so much Amy and Rob we really appreciate it and enjoyed seeing you all again. Thank you as well for the lovely comments about the house which we particularly appreciate after 14 weeks of decorating. It was nice to see howuch the children have grown up since we met you in 2022. You and Rob must be very proud of them, they're lovely. Hope we see you again some time but in the meantime keep in touch. 🌞 ☀️ xx

We recently spent a week at this stunning house in Dordogne, and it far exceeded our expectations! From the moment we arrived, the owners were incredibly welcoming, providing us with all the essential information and ensuring we felt right at home. They made it clear that we could contact them if we had any questions, although we didn’t need to reach out at all—everything was perfect! The cleanliness of the house was remarkable, and it was equipped with all the comforts we could ask for. After researching various rental options in the area, we decided to pay a little extra for this property, and we were certainly not disappointed. The location was breathtaking—driving down the country roads leading to the house was a visual treat, and we couldn’t help but exclaim “wow!” every time. The size of the house was just right for our group. Each of us had our own spacious bedroom, complete with large, comfortable beds. The décor throughout the house was of an incredibly high standard—stylish, modern, and clearly finished to a very high spec, which made the stay feel even more special. The heated pool became our favorite hangout spot; it was beautifully sheltered and allowed us to bask in the sun for hours. Our kids had an absolute blast playing in and around the pool, and since there were no neighbors nearby, we could enjoy their laughter without any worries. The kitchen was fully equipped, featuring a dishwasher and washing machine, which was ideal for our needs. The American-style fridge was a stellar addition, making meal prep easy and convenient. We had plenty of hot water, and the showers were fantastic! One of the hidden gems of the house was the pool table, which kept us entertained for hours in the evenings. The internet connection was reliable and even reached the pool area, making it easy to stay connected. The nearby town of Montignac-Lascaux is just a short 10-minute drive away. It had all the necessary amenities like supermarkets and shops, plus a delightful food market on Monday nights—come hungry, as there are so many delicious options to try! We highly recommend taking the time to visit St. Léon; it's a gorgeous place for a leisurely stroll. Additionally, don’t miss out on exploring Sarlat—it’s definitely worth a visit. In summary, we all agreed that spending a little more this year for this magnificent house was worth every penny. It felt like we were staying in a luxurious and private villa, and we truly enjoyed every moment of our stay. We can’t wait to return!

We stayed here for a fantastic week away in early September. The house is gorgeous - very grand from the outside and beautifully decorated inside. The pool is a great size (and heated!) Lots of lovely spots to eat, including a covered seating area with bbq in the back garden. There’s also a lovely terrace which gets the sunshine in the morning, perfect for a cup of coffee and a nice sunny spot for lunch. Located just outside a quaint village, there is loads to do in the surrounding area - we went on a trip to Sarlat for the Wednesday market, and visited Brive for a day shopping. There’s also a night market held on Thursday evening just a short walk away, which is well worth a visit! Overall, a perfect week away in the French countryside, highly recommend!

We have just spent a glorious week at Maison du Morilhou and couldn’t recommend it more highly. The house has 4 beautiful bedrooms and 2 large bathrooms which makes life easy for a group of 8. We stayed during a particularly hot week but with the help of the shutters and a fan for each room we managed to stay cool(ish). The kitchen is equipped with everything you could possibly need and we loved eating in the outside dining area for every meal and using the barbecue on several occasions too. The pool provided hours of entertainment for kids and adults alike and we loved feeling secluded in the grounds of this wonderful house. Montignac is just a short drive and we loved this small town, as well as canoeing down the Vezere and enjoying the Marché Nocturne in Auriac too. Sue and Simon were wonderfully friendly and welcoming hosts and even came to clean the pool for us a couple of times! This was a family holiday for a special occasion and we couldn’t have wished for a more special place to spend it!
